We create characters together, and then roll the story dice to choose a situation and a genre. John Robin and Isabella, at Larmertree festival, had to make a story using a character called Poppy the Elephant, had to make it a horror story set in a space station.
Here's what they created:
One day there was an elephant called Poppy. She loved Dr Who. One day when she was watching TV it ran away so she chased it and ended up in a space station.
In the space station, there was a monster who liked eating Indian take-away. As Poppy was from India the monster tried to eat her.
But she said 'I'm from Australia, not India! G'Day Mate!'
And the monster stopped trying to eat her and got sucked into the TV.

John Robin's Sixty Second Scribbles
John Robin is nearly 8, we met him at Larmertree to do a sixty second scribble. He only had sixty seconds to write a story when given a word. The words were bubblegum, star and diamond.
Rotini Ronamifo was chewing gum but he was on the loo so it fell in just after the loo filled up with milk.
Emma was wearing a panda bear hat and kept eating stardust. On Sunday, the panda grew lucky because it inhaled stardust.
Diamonds have carats which don't like being eaten by Bugs Bunny, even though he kisses them beforehand. Once, he forgot to kiss them so they punctured his intestines.

Elena's Sixty Second Scribbles
These are by Elena, Aged 9 from Poole. We met her at Larmertree festival. She had the words bubblegum, star and diamond.
Once there was an amazingly fat German boy called Jeremy, he never stopped eating sticky, icky bubblegum.
There are millions of stars in the world, but one star always pooed his pants. The moon was tired of cleaning up after him.
Diamonds are very expensive, um, oh yeah, and they have rainbows inside them.

Isabella's Sixty Second Scribbles
These are by Isabella, aged 8. We met her at Larmertree Festival.
The themes were bubblegum, star and diamond.
Once upon a time there was a star and it was called the sun. One day it blinded someone, and that person died.
Once upon a time there was a piece of bubblegum, it was very sticky and icky but the trouble was that it stuck to everyone's feet.
One dat a diamond called Steve ran off to town to buy a pair of pants. One day the diamond pooed it's pants (by the way, they were boxers).

Welcome to the DumbSaint Scribble!
This is the place where our students show us the stories they want to write, whether it's the outline for a new video game, a conversation between TV characters, or something completely original. We're not here to judge, we're here to share writing!
